Raspberry Set

When any co-worker announces a pregnancy, my gears automatically switch to knitting. I think they all know it by now. Baby clothes are always adorable, and teeny tiny projects are a good chance to try a new technique. With that, I present the cutest thing I’ve ever made:

This raspberry-inspired baby set was made with Caron Simply Soft.

I always swear I won’t default to a hat and bootie set, but I always do. It looks so put together and works up extremely quickly — I’m talking two, maybe three nights maximum. I measure my knitting projects in nights since that’s when I have the most time to knit. I made this for a spring baby to wear in the winter, so I chose a soft yarn even though it’s not exclusively “baby yarn”. I just wanted a saturated colour that traditional baby yarn couldn’t offer.

I used this Ravelry Pattern as inspiration for the hat, but I had to add a pom pom. If you have a reason to add a pom pom, just do it.

This baby bootie pattern is my go-to. I don’t even bother trying other patterns because it’s so versatile. I usually start with the basic boot and adapt the trim based on the project. This YouTube video is a great place to start if you’re new to pattern reading.

Well, that’s pretty much all I have to say about this set. I’m about to embark on a new baby project — not sure it’ll beat this set’s cute-factor, but I’ll see what I can do!

Talk soon,
