Crochet: Pink Pearl Headband

This is my first project with a back-story. Generally I take a long drive to Michaels Craft store and load up on yarn (usually in excess). The yarn for this headband came all the way from Vancouver, which is very far from my home in Toronto.

After travelling to several states last year, I have become completely addicted. I’m looking forward to a trip to Western Europe in a couple months—that will truly be the biggest vacation I have ever taken. I’m sure that that will inspire more projects, but I digress. This post is about Vancouver.

Vancouver is a beautiful city. If you are not from Canada—or live on the East Coast like me—it’s well worth the trip. The mountains are unbelievable and the culture is so different from where I live. What I appreciated the most was the abundance of local artisans and one-of-a-kind shops. While in Vancouver I also ventured to Seattle. I could go on and on about my love of Seattle, but I’ll stop myself here. Rambling aside, I picked up a skein of yarn in each place.

I can’t remember the name or brand of this yarn, which may or may not defeat the purpose of this post, but I loved the look that it achieved and I’m sure there are similar yarns out there. I picked it up at a little yarn shop in Vancouver—a yarn shop with a little cat roaming around! Obviously there would be a cat. Anyways, I found this beautiful pearlescent yarn and made this headband.

I hope that I can pick up more skeins abroad to remind me of my travels.
